About Patricia Amen
The use of oil paints is my preference, and generally I paint with a somewhat impressionist style, with a leaning toward realism. I enjoy color, glazes, layering and occasionally the use of palette knife. I have studied art and oil painting in California, Montana, Oregon, Colorado and Wyoming. I attended the University of Wyoming and worked toward a BFA in art. My art subjects which I lean toward are the western way of life and western situations.
My interest in art must have started very early in life. I was a little city girl who moved to a farm. The farm animals were a part of everyday and ranged from the wild to the tame. Waking up in the morning to the neigh of a horse or the crowing of a rooster are many of the sounds that I am fortunate to remember. I have memories of the hop festival time and the smell of fall in the air. The memories of pheasants flying up from the hay field, and the killdeers leading us away from her nest, are many. We rode horseback in the evening when it was cool to visit our friends who were were swimming at the city pool. Living in a small town had its benefits.
